Kitchen Remodeling in Vallejo, CA
New counters, backsplash tile, cabinets and a layout that fits how you cook.
What to know about kitchen remodeling
A kitchen remodel pays you back every day, which is why it is worth getting the sequence right. The project we do most often starts with an existing kitchen that still functions but feels worn: honey-colored cabinets, a dated counter, an appliance wall that has not changed in decades. Sometimes the cabinets stay, sometimes they go, and the quote makes clear which.
A typical E&MC Remodeling kitchen removes old counters and backsplash, repairs the walls behind them, then installs new counters, a patterned backsplash such as herringbone or subway tile, and a sink and faucet that suit the new layout. Photos from our recent kitchens show how much the space changes when white quartz replaces a worn laminate edge.
Kitchens in Vallejo tend to be compact, so every inch of counter and every cabinet reach matters. We start from how you cook and where people gather, not from a catalog page.

Signs your kitchen is ready for a remodel
- Cabinet doors that sag, stick or no longer close flush.
- Counters with worn edges, stains or seams that trap grime.
- A backsplash that is cracked, missing or ends in bare drywall.
- Too little counter space next to the stove or sink.
- Lighting that leaves the work surface in shadow.
How a kitchen remodel unfolds
Walk-through and measure
We look at the room, note what you want changed and measure the cabinets, counters and wall runs.
Demo and repair
Old counters, backsplash and any removed cabinets come out, and we repair the walls and surfaces behind them.
Install in order
Cabinets go in first, then counters after templating, then backsplash tile and the sink and faucet.
Finish and walk-through
Grout, caulk, hardware and touch-up paint are finished, and we go through the room with you before closing out.

What affects the cost of kitchen remodeling
Kitchen prices move with a handful of choices. These are the factors that shape your quote:
Cabinets: replace, reface or keep
Cabinets are usually the largest single line. Keeping good boxes and updating doors and hardware changes the budget dramatically.
Counter material and edge
Quartz, granite and laminate sit at very different price points, and a thicker edge or a waterfall panel adds fabrication time.
Backsplash pattern
A straight subway layout is quicker than herringbone or chevron, which need more cuts and layout time.
What is behind the walls
Water damage, outdated wiring or uneven drywall can expand the scope. We flag them as soon as we find them.
Why choose E&MC Remodeling for kitchen remodeling
Many contractors treat the kitchen as a set of hand-offs between cabinet, counter and tile vendors. We keep it as one project, so the backsplash is cut to the counter and the counter is templated to the cabinets that are actually on the wall. When something shifts, one person adjusts the plan.
Where we do this work
We remodel kitchens in Vallejo and are expanding our work into Marin County, including San Rafael and Tiburon.
Kitchen Remodeling FAQs
How long does a kitchen remodel take from start to finish?
Plan on several weeks for a full remodel with new cabinets and counters. Counter fabrication and cabinet delivery are the usual waiting periods, so we order as early as we can.
Can I stay in the house during the remodel?
Most people do. We set up a temporary kitchen zone when possible and keep the dust contained, but you should plan for a few days without a working sink.
What is the difference between quartz and granite counters?
Quartz is manufactured with a consistent pattern and does not need sealing. Granite is natural, with more variation, and typically needs periodic sealing. Both are durable, so the choice is mostly about look and upkeep.
Do you install the backsplash and the counters?
Yes. Our kitchen photos include herringbone and subway backsplashes next to new quartz, and the tile is cut to meet the counters cleanly.
Can you change the layout of my kitchen?
Yes, but layout changes bring plumbing, electrical and sometimes structural work. We talk through what moving a sink or removing a wall involves before it goes into the quote.
